Volunteer Opportunities 


Senior Persons Living Connected provides volunteering opportunities for you to connect and meet new people, use your skills and pursue interesting projects. With a diverse set of volunteering roles, we welcome you to learn new skills and achieve a sense of accomplishment. Volunteering at SPLC allows you to meet and interact with seniors and staff and focus on your interests and skillset. 

At SPLC we have 500 volunteers from all walks of life. Whether you are retired and looking to give back to the community or you are a student looking to develop and sharpen your skillset, there's an opportunity for everyone. Become part of the SPLC team and help transform the lives of seniors!

Placement Students

Are you interested in doing your placement at SPLC? Interested applicants are asked to email info@splc.ca with the following subject heading: Placement Student (year)-(department)/ For example, Placement Student (January 2018)-Social Services. Current Volunteer Opportunities

Meals on Wheels Driver


  • This position requires the volunteer to use their own vehicle to deliver meals to community clients
  • Mileage is reimbursed, must be willing to provide a police check 
  • Time required: 2 hours per week; Monday - Friday, 11 am - 1 pm 

Friendly Visitor


  • This position requires you to visit seniors and engage in friendly conversations and leisure activities 
  • Must be willing to provide a police check
  • Time required: 1 hour per week within office hours

Friendly Shopper 


  • This role requires volunteers to help seniors buy their grocery items.
  • Time required: 1½​ hours per week; weekdays only 

Day Program Assistant 


  • Assist staff with social and recreational activities for clients; help escort clients to and from the Day Program area
Time required:
  • Full day shift: 9 am - 3 pm
  • Morning shift: 9 am - 12 pm 
  • Afternoon shift: 12 pm - 3 pm 

Food, Beverage & Hospitality Assistant 


  • This role requires volunteers to set tales, serve food and beverages, greet clients and escort clients to and from program areas
Time required: 
  • Monday - Saturday
  • Lunch shift: 11 am - 2 pm
  • Dinner shift: 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm
